“Sacred Language of Ascension” CD
Jim Sherrod: His Spiritual Aspiration – This soul brought to our spiritual community what his heart had wished for many years; and that was to hear the chanting of Hebrew and Sanskrit holy Names of God. And through the divine kindness of the Lord, his aspiration has become living Reality. In the following commentary, his humility will not allow him to credit himself with work done to realize this project. However, the truth of it is known, and we acknowledge him with great appreciation.
Sacred Music for a Critical Threshold

Since time immemorial all scriptures given to this world have been in five languages, namely: Hebrew, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Chinese and Egyptian. Two other languages, namely Greek (the language of the New Testament) and Aramaic (the language that Christ spoke), also figure in, but they are not primary source languages, since their thought-forms first appear in earlier languages. Perhaps all of us should take another look at the thought-forms these languages originally, and still, intend to convey to our consciousness.
And what better way to do this than through the universal medium of music! We are, in fact, the product of these languages 'come to life'. Their codes are our codes, written into our very genes, programming our consciousness horizontally, vertically, and finally, vectorially, preparing us for the quantum leap that is sure to come.
This project was first conceived of twenty years ago, but alas, only now that it finally comes to fruition. Hebrew and Sanskrit are the featured languages of Sacred Language of Ascension, with a portion of Aramaic added for greater divine flavor. Since we are all here at an obviously critical threshold to our future, both globally and personally, what languages could be more appropriate to sing in than Sanskrit and Hebrew?
Sanskrit is a very ancient language which has played perhaps the most prominent role in the programming of this world horizontally. Not only was it the language of the higher Hindu tantras, but also of Buddhism, which had a strong horizontal impact, and influencing large blocks of consciousness in a horizontal pattern. Hebrew, on the other hand, is the base language of the West in terms of those who are now in charge of our world. Currently, it is the thought-forms of the West that most influence the destiny of our world, and it is the religions of the West that most profoundly influence its beliefs about the self and others. It is on Hebrew that the great religious traditions of the West are based.
On Sacred Language of Ascension then, the names of divinity are sung in the languages divinity chose to reveal itself in, two languages that have permeated consciousness on the very deepest levels. Included are songs of redemption, resurrection, release and of ascension; singing is in the spirit of MATTIR ASSURIM, which in Hebrew, means, "He who sets the captives free, as the Good Shepherd, as the “Shepherding Frequency” of Light calling all and each home. On Sacred Language of Ascension, praise and prayers are beautifully intoned in the very vibrations that gave us life to begin with.

The vibrations of The Sacred Language of Ascension transport the listener from life's daily concerns to the soul's inner sanctum of indescribable beauty, unsurpassed peace, and holy communion. Received by Swamini from the Lord in meditation, this music streams forth only from the realm of Divine Transcendence. The music's ambience and focus are the magnification and glorification of the Lord's myriad, powerful, holy Names. The Lord is also honored as Universal Mother, Father and Nurturer of all sentient life.
On some level, Sacred Language becomes a hymn of the universe calling for the unification of all its relations. The singing in five languages emphasizes the call for unity and concord among all nations, cultures and religions. Herein is a message of hope especially as the entire humanity is presently shadowed by the spectre of war. This music flows like a healing balm especially onto those wounded and devastated by hatred, conflicts and deep suffering. It truly emits light, deep joy; it metaphorically and actually lifts our heart, mind and spirit.
Production Notes: Unique to this and other devotional music offerings by Swamini Alice Coltrane, is the process of recording. The melodies, as stated, were received, and notations were made. Then they were practiced and initially recorded in the mandir or temple. This allows the singers to express in a spirit of devotion and reverence. An atmosphere of harmony and cooperation also pervaded the actual studio recording. All participants, without exception, were deeply moved and grateful to participate in this divine work, and to be associated with the two divine instruments of this sacred offering, Swamini Turiyasangitanandaji and Dr. Hurtak.
